Quick Answer
West Palm Beach small businesses are best served by a mix of Palm Beach County community banks, regional lenders and SBA specialists. Anchor Bank and Paradise Bank are the leading locally headquartered business banks. Seacoast offers the deepest regional footprint. Huntington, Newtek and First Internet Bank led local SBA lending in 2025, and iTHINK Financial is the county’s largest business-ready credit union.
Small Business Banking in “Wall Street South”
West Palm Beach has become one of the most closely watched financial centers in the country. Hedge funds, private equity firms, family offices and wealth managers have filled new office towers along Flagler Drive, and private banks have followed them.
But that glamour can be misleading for a small business owner. A Clematis Street restaurant, a Northwood design firm, a Riviera Beach marine contractor or a Wellington equestrian services company does not need a private bank built for billionaires. It needs a reliable operating account, a banker who answers the phone, a line of credit when cash runs tight during the summer slowdown and, eventually, financing to buy its own building.
Palm Beach County’s local banking bench is thinner than many business owners realize. Paradise Bank’s leaders describe it as the last community bank based in Boca Raton and one of the few remaining in the county. That makes it especially important to know which institutions actually serve small businesses well.
This guide sorts through the options with current 2026 data, organized by what each does best.

1. Anchor Bank: Best Palm Beach County Community Bank
Anchor Bank is the most prominent community bank headquartered in northern Palm Beach County. Organized in 2005, it opened its first banking center in Juno Beach and is now based on PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens.
Anchor’s stated goal is to be the preferred community bank for professionals and small and medium-sized businesses. Its business lending covers commercial real estate loans, commercial construction loans, business lines of credit, HOA loans and accounts-receivable financing, alongside merchant card services and wealth management through Anchor Securities.
In South Florida, Anchor serves the tri-county area through banking centers in Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth, Boca Raton, Hallandale Beach and Coral Gables.
Anchor also expanded in 2026. When Community Bank and Trust – West Georgia failed on May 1, 2026, the FDIC selected Anchor Bank to assume substantially all of its insured deposits and certain assets, giving Anchor new banking centers in LaGrange and Hogansville, Georgia.
Best for: Palm Beach County professional firms, HOAs and small to midsize businesses that want a locally headquartered relationship bank.
Consider: Ask how the Georgia expansion fits the bank’s priorities and whether your relationship manager is based locally.
2. Paradise Bank: Best for Commercial and SBA Lending
Paradise Bank, headquartered on North Federal Highway in Boca Raton, was founded in 2005 by local business leaders with the goal of remaining locally owned and community focused. It has fewer than 100 shareholders, nearly all Florida homeowners and most living in Palm Beach County.
The bank’s call report shows $444.9 million in total assets and $413.1 million in deposits, with a strong 4.89 percent net interest margin. Its branches are in Boca Raton, Delray Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
Paradise is built for business lending. A Federal Reserve evaluation described its primary credit focus as commercial lending, including commercial real estate and small business lending, and noted it participates in the SBA Preferred Lender Program. It was the top SBA 7(a) lender to Fort Lauderdale businesses by dollar volume in 2025, a sign of its willingness to make larger SBA loans across the region.
Best for: Established Palm Beach County businesses seeking commercial real estate or larger SBA loans from a local decision-maker.
Consider: With only three offices, Paradise is best paired with a branch-heavy bank if you make frequent cash deposits.
3. Seacoast Bank: Best Regional Bank With a Local Feel
Seacoast Bank is headquartered just north in Stuart and is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. It has grown into one of Florida’s largest community banks, with about $21.1 billion in assets and $16.6 billion in deposits as of March 31, 2026, and more than 100 full-service branches across Florida and Georgia.
Palm Beach County is core Seacoast territory, with offices in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Boca Raton and Boynton Beach among others. CEO Chuck Shaffer has described the bank as serving small businesses up through fairly large middle-market companies with strong digital tools while keeping a community bank ethos.
Seacoast is also active in SBA lending, with a history of placing among Florida’s leading SBA banks.
Best for: Growing businesses that want community-bank service with the capacity and branch network of a large regional bank.
Consider: Seacoast has grown through many acquisitions. Ask about account terms and continuity if your bank was recently acquired.
4. SBA Specialists: Best for SBA 7(a) Loans
In 2025, West Palm Beach businesses received $71.2 million in SBA 7(a) approvals across 103 businesses from 37 active lenders, at an average rate of 10.22 percent.
The top lenders to West Palm Beach businesses by dollar volume were:
| 2025 Lender | Volume | Loans | Avg Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Internet Bank | $8.0M | 3 | 10.08% |
| Newtek Bank | $5.8M | 6 | 11.08% |
| Huntington | $5.8M | 6 | 8.77% |
Huntington stands out for combining meaningful local volume with the lowest average rate among the top three. Statewide, the market is much larger: Florida businesses received $3.22 billion in SBA 7(a) approvals across 6,302 loans in 2025, with Live Oak Bank leading by volume and Bank of America offering an average rate of just 8.12 percent among the top 10 lenders.
One caution for business owners reading older guides: BayFirst, once among Florida’s most active SBA lenders, exited SBA 7(a) lending in 2026.
Best for: Business acquisitions, working capital, equipment and owner-occupied real estate.
Consider: Rate differences of two or more percentage points among lenders can add up to tens of thousands of dollars over a loan’s life, so compare offers.
5. SBA 504 Lenders: Best for Buying Your Building
With downtown West Palm Beach commercial rents among the highest in Florida, ownership has become an appealing long-term strategy for established businesses. SBA 504 loans pair a bank first mortgage with fixed-rate financing from a Certified Development Company, often with as little as 10 percent down.
The Florida Business Development Corporation actively serves West Palm Beach businesses with 504 financing, and Florida First Capital Finance lists October 2026 effective 504 rates of 6.98 percent for a 25-year fixed loan.
Best for: Businesses buying offices, medical space, light industrial property or retail buildings, particularly in more affordable submarkets outside downtown.
6. Miami-Area Banks: Best for South Florida Commercial Banking
Several Miami-Dade-based banks have made Palm Beach County a growth priority. Amerant opened a regional headquarters and banking center in West Palm Beach in April 2025, and Ocean Bank expanded into Palm Beach County with a Boca Raton location.
These banks suit established businesses with complex needs, including commercial real estate, treasury management and international transactions.
Best for: Businesses operating across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade, and companies with Latin American trade ties.
Consider: Larger credit decisions may be made at Miami headquarters.
7. National Banks: Best for Branch Access
For restaurants, retailers, salons and hospitality businesses that deposit cash daily, branch access matters most. Truist, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, PNC and First Citizens all maintain branches across West Palm Beach and the county.
National banks are also active SBA lenders and can be strong choices for multi-state companies and businesses with sophisticated treasury needs.
Best for: Cash-heavy businesses and companies operating in multiple states.
Consider: Centralized underwriting can make approvals less flexible for unconventional borrowers.
8. iTHINK Financial: Best Credit Union for Business Banking
iTHINK Financial, headquartered in Delray Beach, is Palm Beach County’s most business-ready credit union. As of March 31, 2026, it reported $2.36 billion in assets and 118,280 members, with a net worth ratio of 10.57 percent, well above the 7 percent level NCUA uses for well-capitalized credit unions.
iTHINK offers business accounts, business loans and business services, with dedicated commercial lending officers. It began in 1969 as an IBM employee credit union and later acquired Boynton Beach-based Mackinac Savings Bank, adding three Palm Beach County branches.
Best for: Small businesses, sole proprietors and professionals seeking lower fees and competitive loan rates.
Consider: A business deposit relationship is required for business loans, and credit unions face federal limits on total business lending.

Businesses Serving Wall Street South
Accounting firms, IT providers, legal support companies and other vendors serving the financial firms along Flagler Drive often have strong receivables but uneven payment timing. A line of credit secured by receivables, like the accounts-receivable financing offered by community banks such as Anchor, can smooth cash flow.
Hospitality and Seasonal Businesses
West Palm Beach restaurants, hotels and service businesses experience sharp seasonal swings between the winter season and summer. Arrange a credit line during strong months, before you need it.
Equestrian and Agricultural Businesses
Wellington’s equestrian industry and western Palm Beach County agriculture have specialized financing needs. Ask lenders directly about their experience with these sectors and with USDA-backed programs.
Marine Businesses
Boatyards, marinas and marine service companies along the Intracoastal need equipment financing and lenders comfortable with marine collateral and insurance requirements.
Questions to Ask Any West Palm Beach Bank
- Where are credit decisions made?
- Are you an SBA Preferred Lender, and how many Palm Beach County SBA loans did you close last year?
- Has the bank recently merged, acquired another bank or changed lending programs?
- What are the monthly fees, and how can they be waived?
- How many cash deposits are included each month?
- What treasury and merchant services are available?
- How is the bank performing financially?
- Is my money FDIC- or NCUA-insured, and up to what limits?
Brian’s Take
I spent years as a money manager before building the Florida Authority Network, and West Palm Beach presents a banking paradox I find fascinating. The city now hosts some of the most sophisticated financial institutions in the world, yet locally headquartered community banks serving small businesses are scarce.
The Wall Street South boom has been excellent for the county’s economy, but most of the new financial firms are not lending to the plumbing contractor in Lake Worth Beach or the café owner on Clematis Street. Those businesses depend on a short list of community banks like Anchor and Paradise, a strong regional player in Seacoast, a solid credit union in iTHINK and national SBA lenders.
My advice: do not let the prestige of downtown’s new arrivals shape your banking decision. Choose the institution that understands businesses your size and will be there when you need credit. Build that relationship before you need to borrow. Shop SBA loans separately, because the gap between the cheapest and most expensive lenders is real. And once your business reaches meaningful size, maintain at least two banking relationships. In a seasonal, hurricane-exposed economy, a second source of credit is risk management, not luxury.
