Quick Answer
For a finance professional, the month you visit West Palm Beach changes the trip more than the hotel you pick. October is the quiet, easy month to get meetings and tables. By December the seasonal residents are back, Palm Beach’s social calendar is full, and you need to book everything early.
Why the Calendar Matters More Here Than Anywhere Else in Florida
Most Florida business cities have a busy season, but few change as much as West Palm Beach between Columbus Day and Christmas. The county’s wealth is concentrated and seasonal. Many of the investors, family office principals and retired executives a visiting banker or allocator wants to see live part of the year in New York, Connecticut or the Northeast. They arrive in Palm Beach County in stages, starting around Thanksgiving, and the Palm Beach island social season is traditionally said to run from about Thanksgiving to Easter.
The money behind that calendar has grown fast. CoStar, reporting on Wells Fargo’s wealth management move in January 2026, cited a 2025 Henley & Partners report: West Palm Beach’s millionaire population grew 112 percent from 2014 to 2024, and the city has 78 residents with at least $100 million in liquid assets. A group of residents that small and that wealthy affects restaurant waitlists, hotel occupancy and how easy it is to get a meeting in the weeks the seasonal crowd returns.
So the most useful question for a fall 2026 trip is “which month?” before “where should I stay?” This guide is built around that choice.
October vs. November vs. December: The Planning Grid
The table below summarizes what tends to change from month to month. These are patterns, not guarantees. Conditions vary by year, and they depend heavily on who in your network has flown south for the winter.
| Factor | October | November | December |
| Seasonal residents | Mostly away | Arriving | Largely back |
| Restaurant bookings | Easiest | Tightening | Book well ahead |
| Island social calendar | Quiet | Ramping up | Full |
| Hurricane season | Active | Ends Nov. 30 | Over |
| Best use | Deal work, site visits | Mixed trips | Relationship meetings |
October: The Working Month
October is a working month in West Palm Beach. The firms that relocated here year-round, such as Elliott Management, Point72’s local team and the growing roster at One Flagler, are fully staffed. The seasonal crowd mostly isn’t here yet. Downtown restaurants are easy to book, drive times on Flagler Drive and Okeechobee Boulevard are manageable, and you can usually find hotel rooms on short notice.
The trade-off is weather. October is still hurricane season and still warm and humid, though it is usually less oppressive than August. Pack for heat during the day and possible afternoon storms. Keep your schedule flexible in case a tropical system threatens the coast, because airlines and hotels rearrange operations quickly when one does.
If you are doing diligence, touring office space or meeting operating teams rather than principals, October is the best month to come.
November: The Transition Month
November is when the city shifts. Hurricane season officially ends November 30, and the humidity eases noticeably in most years. Airlines add seasonal capacity. Delta has announced a new nonstop between Palm Beach International (PBI) and Los Angeles International starting November 20, 2026. United has announced a seasonal Saturday nonstop from San Francisco starting November 7. Both are useful to West Coast investors who previously had to connect.
The month also has calendar hazards. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26. The week of Thanksgiving is when many seasonal residents arrive and households fill up with family, so it is a poor week for business meetings. The first three weeks of November are the sweet spot: principals are starting to return, the weather is better, and reservations are still possible.
At the Palm Beach County Convention Center, the Connect Winter Marketplace, a hosted-buyer event for meeting planners and hospitality suppliers, is scheduled for November 18 to 20, 2026. It is not a finance conference. It does put more pressure on the convention-district hotels that week, so book early if you plan to stay near Okeechobee Boulevard.
December: The Relationship Month
By December, the seasonal crowd is largely back, and Palm Beach’s charity and social calendar fills up. If the person you need to see winters in Palm Beach, December is often the easiest time to get them to agree to coffee and the hardest time to get a dinner table near them.
Book restaurants on the island and in downtown West Palm Beach as far ahead as you can, and expect hotel rates to climb into the holiday weeks. The two weeks around Christmas (December 25 is a Friday this year) are mostly lost for business. Families, travel and holiday events take over. Plan December meetings for the first half of the month.
The weather is usually the trip’s best feature in December. It is typically dry and mild, with comfortable daytime temperatures, which is a big reason the seasonal crowd is here.
Getting There and Getting Around
West Palm Beach has an unusually good set of transportation options for a city its size. The airport is a short drive from downtown, and two passenger rail systems link it to the rest of the Southeast Florida coast.
| Mode | Best For | Note |
| PBI airport | Most arrivals | Short drive to downtown |
| Brightline | Boca, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando | Premium class available |
| Tri-Rail | Budget commuting south | Slower, more stops |
| RideWPB | Downtown hops | Free, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. |
| Car or rideshare | Island, Gardens, Jupiter | Season traffic heavier |
Palm Beach International Airport in 2026
PBI is the main gateway. A 2025 airports presentation to the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency put annual traffic at about 8.5 million passengers as of June 2025, including seasonal routes. Seasonal service matters a great deal here. Many routes and frequencies run only in winter, so the airline options in October can look quite different from December’s.
Construction is part of the experience for now. The airport’s Concourse B expansion and modernization is moving through phases. Phase 1, with new restrooms and concession space, was completed in spring 2025. Phase 2, which covers interior finishes and infrastructure, was expected to reach substantial completion in spring 2026. Phase 3, the full build-out with added seating, concessions, amenities and infrastructure for two additional passenger boarding bridges, is underway with substantial completion expected in summer 2028. The same transportation planning presentation lists a planned post-security connector between Concourses A/B and C and an early-stage consolidated rental car facility.
In practical terms, leave a little extra time when flying out of Concourse B, especially in December, when seasonal travelers fill the terminal.
| PBI Item | 2026 Status |
| Delta to LAX | Starts Nov. 20, 2026 |
| United from SFO | Saturdays from Nov. 7 |
| Concourse B Phase 3 | Done summer 2028 (expected) |
| Post-security connector | Planned |
| Rental car facility | Early stage |
Private Aviation
Many of the people a finance professional meets in Palm Beach do not fly commercial, and PBI’s general aviation side is busy all season. During the 2025–2026 period, when the president was in residence at Mar-a-Lago, temporary flight restrictions and road closures near the airport have periodically disrupted both private flights and ground traffic on the south end of the island. If your schedule depends on a private arrival or a tight drive to the island, check for advisories the day before.
Brightline: The Finance Corridor on Rails
Brightline’s West Palm Beach station is downtown, a short walk from the Clematis Street area and an easy ride to Flagler Drive. Its six Florida stations are Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Orlando. Brightline offers SMART and PREMIUM fare classes. PREMIUM includes complimentary food and beverage, and the company has introduced peak and off-peak pricing on South Florida trips.
Trip times are what make the train useful for business visitors. Travel guides citing Brightline put West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale at about 40 minutes and Fort Lauderdale to Miami at about 33 minutes, so a West Palm–Miami run is a bit over an hour on the train. Miami to Orlando is quoted at roughly three hours and change, which makes West Palm Beach to Orlando’s airport station roughly two hours. Schedules change, so confirm exact times on Brightline’s schedule page before you build a meeting day around them.
One caution for planning: in late September 2026, some Brightline Florida entities filed for Chapter 11 as part of a financial restructuring. The operating company did not file, and trains continue to run, but book refundable fares for trips tied to fixed meeting times.
The Boca Raton stop matters most to finance visitors. It lets you hold a morning meeting on Flagler Drive and an afternoon meeting in Boca without dealing with Interstate 95 in season traffic. A planned Brightline station farther north in Stuart is stalled. According to a Railway News summary, Florida East Coast Railway denied approval in an April 2026 letter, citing bridge rules, so don’t count on rail to reach the Treasure Coast.
Tri-Rail and RideWPB
Tri-Rail is the slower, cheaper commuter option. It runs about 50 trains on weekdays, its northern terminus is at Mangonia Park, and its West Palm Beach station is shared with Amtrak. A MiamiCentral express that began in July 2024 connects West Palm Beach to downtown Miami with limited stops, including Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale Airport. Parking at Tri-Rail stations is free, and the city lists a free Tri-Rail shuttle between the West Palm Beach station and PBI.
Downtown, the City of West Palm Beach runs RideWPB, a free local service operating seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with on-demand pickups at many downtown locations. It is a practical way to get between Clematis, Rosemary Square and the waterfront without moving a rental car.
The Districts: Where the Money Sits
West Palm Beach’s financial district is compact and new. The main nodes are within a few blocks of each other along the Intracoastal Waterway, with satellite clusters to the north and south.
| District | What It Is | Who’s There (Verified) |
| Flagler Drive / One Flagler | Waterfront towers | Wells Fargo WM, GTCR, GoldenTree |
| Rosemary Square / 360 Rosemary | Mixed-use office hub | Point72 (since 2021) |
| Clematis Street | Dining, nightlife | Restaurants, hotels |
| Palm Beach island | Worth Ave., Royal Poinciana Way | Private wealth, clubs |
| Boca Raton | South county hub | Brightline-linked |
| Palm Beach Gardens / Jupiter | North county corridor | Wealth managers, family offices |
Flagler Drive and One Flagler
One Flagler is the clearest sign of downtown’s financial build-out. Commercial Observer describes the Related Ross tower at 180 Lakeview Avenue as 25 stories and about 270,000 square feet, facing Flagler Drive and the Intracoastal. It was completed in 2025. Named tenants include GTCR and Diameter Capital Partners. CoStar’s January 2026 reporting also lists OceanSound Partners and GoldenTree Asset Management.
The biggest 2026 news at One Flagler is Wells Fargo. In January 2026, Bloomberg and Commercial Observer reported that the bank’s wealth management division had leased about 50,000 square feet there. According to CoStar, roughly 100 employees, including senior executives, are expected to move in by the end of 2026, and division CEO Barry Sommers has relocated from New York. If you visit this fall, that relocation will be happening as you arrive.
Estiatorio Milos runs a ground-floor restaurant in the tower of about 10,000 square feet. That makes it the default lunch spot for anyone meeting a One Flagler tenant, so book ahead in November and December.
The waterfront corridor also includes Phillips Point on South Flagler Drive, which Related acquired in 2021, and other Class A buildings that predate the newer towers. Elliott Management announced in 2020 that it would move its headquarters from Midtown Manhattan to West Palm Beach. That move did more than any other single event to change how Wall Street sees the city.
Rosemary Square and 360 Rosemary
Rosemary Square, the Related-developed district on the site of the former CityPlace, is the second financial anchor. Bloomberg reported in 2021 that Point72 would open its West Palm Beach office at 360 Rosemary. Other tenants named at the time included Comvest Partners and Norwest Equity Partners. The district mixes offices, residential, retail and restaurants, and it is a short walk or RideWPB hop from the convention center and the Brightline station.
Clematis Street
Clematis Street is downtown’s original main street, running from the waterfront west into the core. For a visiting professional, it is where you go for a casual dinner after meetings, a drink with a younger deal team, or a walk to the waterfront. It is also the least formal of the downtown districts. In October, weeknights are relaxed. By December, it fills up with locals and holiday visitors.
The Palm Beach Island: Worth Avenue and Royal Poinciana Way
You reach the town of Palm Beach by crossing the Intracoastal from downtown West Palm Beach. It is a separate municipality with its own customs. Worth Avenue is the retail and dining street at the south end of the core. Royal Poinciana Way, to the north, is a smaller strip of restaurants and shops close to some of the island’s well-known hotels.
This is where the season shows most. Many seasonal residents who are investors or prospective clients spend their days on the island, at their homes or private clubs. A meeting “in Palm Beach” in December may mean a club lunch where you are a guest, not a restaurant you pick. Dress more formally than you would downtown, allow time for bridge traffic, and expect your host to set the venue.
Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter
Palm Beach County’s financial footprint reaches well beyond downtown. Boca Raton, at the south end of the county, has its own concentration of corporate and financial offices and is one Brightline stop south. The Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter corridor to the north has long been home to wealth managers, family offices and corporate headquarters. Getting there means a drive up I-95 or the Florida Turnpike, which takes noticeably longer in season.
The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County lists Citadel, BlackRock, Elliott, Goldman Sachs, Virtu Financial and Point72 among the firms that have expanded in the county. It also names Bessemer Trust, Baron Funds, Paulson Capital, the Glazer family’s Lancer Capital and Highpost Capital among arrivals and relocations. The board does not say which building or town each one occupies, so confirm the address before you set a meeting.
Where to Stay: The Hotel Landscape
This guide lists no room rates. Prices in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach swing sharply between October and the holidays, so a figure printed today would mislead. Below is the hotel landscape by zone. Check rates directly and expect large seasonal jumps from mid-November on.
| Zone | Example Properties | Best For |
| Downtown waterfront | The Ben, Autograph Collection | Flagler Drive meetings |
| Convention district | Hilton West Palm Beach | Convention Center, Brightline |
| Rosemary / Clematis | Canopy by Hilton, AC Hotel | Walkable downtown |
| Palm Beach island | The Breakers, The Colony, Brazilian Court | Island meetings |
| South island | Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, Eau Palm Beach | Quieter, resort style |
Choosing Your Base
If most of your meetings are in One Flagler, Phillips Point or Rosemary Square, stay downtown. You can walk or take RideWPB to most of them, and Brightline is close by. If your meetings are mostly with seasonal residents on the island, staying on the island saves you multiple bridge crossings a day. In December, that is worth paying for. If you are splitting time between West Palm Beach and Boca Raton, a downtown hotel near the Brightline station keeps both within easy reach.
The convention-district hotels, centered on the Palm Beach County Convention Center at 650 Okeechobee Boulevard, are the practical choice during events. The week of November 18 to 20 will be busier than usual because of the Connect Winter Marketplace.
A Sample Three-Day Itinerary by Month
October Version
Day one: arrive at PBI, check in downtown, and walk to afternoon meetings at One Flagler or Rosemary Square. Day two: take Brightline south to Boca Raton for a morning meeting, return for an afternoon session on Flagler Drive, and have a casual dinner on Clematis Street. Day three: drive north to Palm Beach Gardens for a final meeting, then fly out of PBI. Restaurant and hotel availability are rarely a problem.
November Version
The same structure works, with two changes. Book dinners at least a week ahead, especially for the third week of the month. Leave the week of Thanksgiving off your plans. If you are coming from the West Coast, check the new Delta Los Angeles and United San Francisco nonstops before you book a connection.
December Version
Arrange the trip around the principals’ calendars rather than your own. Expect to take at least one meeting on the island, likely at a private club. Stay on the island or on the downtown waterfront, book every dinner as early as possible, and finish the trip before the Christmas week.
Brian’s Take
I spent years in money management before I started publishing, and the most common mistake I see visiting finance people make in Palm Beach County is treating it like Midtown with palm trees. It isn’t. Wealth here moves on a seasonal schedule, and that schedule decides whether you get a meeting.
If I were advising a younger analyst on a fall 2026 trip, I’d split it in two. Do the institutional work in October, when the year-round firms are fully staffed and the city is easy to get around. Meet the asset managers at One Flagler and Rosemary Square, tour the buildings, and learn the geography. Then come back in the first half of December for the relationship meetings with the people who winter here. Those are different trips with different goals, and trying to combine them in one week of mid-November often means doing both poorly.
The Wells Fargo wealth management relocation to One Flagler is the story I’d watch this fall. A national bank moving a division headquarters and its CEO here shows that the “Wall Street South” label now covers wealth management as well as hedge funds and private equity. In practice, that means more competition for the same clients, more demand for Class A office space, and more pressure on the downtown restaurants and hotels the industry uses during the season.
One more practical point. Brightline has changed how I’d plan a multi-city South Florida trip. When the train can get you between downtown West Palm Beach and Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale or Miami without driving I-95 in December, the rental car starts to look like a liability, not a convenience.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best month for a business trip to West Palm Beach in fall 2026?
It depends on who you need to see. October is best for working meetings with year-round firms and for easy logistics. The first half of December is best for meeting seasonal residents. Early to mid-November is a reasonable compromise.
When does “the season” start in Palm Beach?
The Palm Beach social season is traditionally said to run from about Thanksgiving to Easter. Seasonal residents start arriving in November and are largely back by December, which is when restaurants and hotels get noticeably tighter.
How do I get from West Palm Beach to Miami for a meeting?
Brightline is the fastest option without driving. It takes a bit over an hour from downtown West Palm Beach to Miami, with stops in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Aventura. Tri-Rail is cheaper but slower. Its MiamiCentral express connects West Palm Beach to downtown Miami with limited stops.
Which financial firms have offices in downtown West Palm Beach?
Verified tenants include Wells Fargo’s wealth management division, GTCR, Diameter Capital Partners, OceanSound Partners and GoldenTree at One Flagler, and Point72 at 360 Rosemary. Elliott Management moved its headquarters to West Palm Beach in 2020. The county’s development board also lists Citadel, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock among firms that have expanded in the county.
Is hurricane season a concern for an October visit?
Yes, but it can be managed. Hurricane season officially runs through November 30. Book refundable fares and hotels for October and early November trips, and watch forecasts in the days before departure.
What is changing at Palm Beach International Airport?
The Concourse B expansion is in its final phase, with substantial completion expected in summer 2028. A post-security connector and a consolidated rental car facility are in planning. For fall 2026, new routes include Delta to Los Angeles from November 20 and United’s Saturday service from San Francisco starting November 7.
Do I need a car in West Palm Beach?
Not if you stay downtown and keep your meetings there. RideWPB is free from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Brightline covers trips south. You will want a car or rideshare for Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and many island meetings.
Where should a visiting finance professional stay?
Stay downtown near Flagler Drive or Rosemary Square for institutional meetings, and on the Palm Beach island when most of your meetings are with seasonal residents. Expect rates to rise sharply from mid-November through the holidays.
